Planning the Trip

I’ve been planning this trip for a while as a graduation present to myself, and it seems like it’s finally coming to fruition!

It’s been incredibly exciting outlining the trip and putting together an itinerary, but also extremely headache inducing!

Either way this trip is finally happening!
My sister and I will be backing through Europe for 2-3 weeks in June, starting in London and making our way though France and down Italy! I think the hardest part is going to be narrowing down the list of places to see as I feel it could be endless!

I’d love to hear any travel advice you guys have as this will be out first trip overseas!

Also thanks to The Savvy Backpacker for your awesome website that makes planning so easy, and to my friend Megan for the awesome travel journal!

That’s so cool! I was hoping June would be good! Hopefully not too busy, but still nice weather! We are going to Venice, Florence and then Rome! Where are you in Italy? Do you have any recommendations?

June will be busy especially this year, we have the Expo 2015 in Milan and the Art Biennale in Venice all summer, if you haven’t done it already you should start looking at hostels and places where to sleep, hotels are half full already in the north because of these events! I’m in the Dolomites / Alps, an hour or so north from Verona, one of the best places for hiking in the country, but that’s it, nothing else to do there. Venice, Florence and Rome sound great, ( I have a couple of good places in Rome to suggest if you don’t know where to stay – right in the city centre) if you have time you might want to enjoy the beaches and relax in the sun, Sardegna and Sicilia are gorgeous – but maybe harder to reach – Puglia (the heel of the boot) has been nominated one of the best places to visit this year by the times or another newspaper, cant remember XD anyways, food is crazy good, prices should be decent and the sea is goooorgeous πŸ™‚

I was looking for the expo in Milan and couldn’t find information! When is it? And do you know what it entails? Also I would love to hear your Rome recommendations! We are booking hostels now!!! 😱😁😍

Italy is the most magical place, you’re going to have a great trip! If you have time, take a ferry from Naples to an island called Ischia. There is a hostel there called The Ring Hostel that made my time really enjoyable, the beaches are beautiful and there’s a free natural hot spring as well! London is also one of my favorite cities and if you’re on a budget, the free walking tours are really great.
